Behind every successful boiler hire, chiller hire, or other temporary HVAC solution is a team working at pace to support Rapid Energy customers. One of those people is Shanna, an Internal Sales Executive who has been with Rapid Energy for almost two years and plays a key role in supporting the Facilities Management (FM) sector.
We sat down with Shanna to talk about her role, what a typical day looks like, and why Rapid Energy has been such a rewarding place to build her career.
The Role & Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Q: What is your role at Rapid Energy, and what does a typical day look like for you?
“I’m an Internal Sales Executive, and a typical day for me in the FM sector usually includes checking on live contracts, responding to enquiries, booking meetings with prospective customers, and liaising with our FM Sector Manager, Andy Head, to update our current strategy.”

Her role sits right at the centre of customer communication, balancing proactive sales activity with reactive support when customers need urgent solutions.
Q: What’s the first thing you do when you start your workday?
“The first thing I do when I start is make everyone a cup of tea!”
After that all-important start to the day, it’s straight into organisation and prioritisation.
“I then make a list of the jobs I want to complete that day and prioritise them in order of importance or urgency.”
Q: What are your main responsibilities as an Internal Sales Executive?
“My main responsibilities include being the first port of call for incoming enquiries in the FM sector, maintaining an up-to-date pipeline, and engaging with current and new customers to keep a good relationship and build prospects.”

Q: How do you support customers on a day-to-day basis?
“A lot of our work is reactive. Customers are often looking for a quick turnaround with efficient equipment, so supporting them means making sure we meet SLAs and deliver exactly what’s needed, when it’s needed.”
Teamwork & Company Culture
Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?
For Shanna, the answer is simple: the people.
“The thing I enjoy most is being part of a team. The sales team at Rapid has a great relationship. We work so well together, from helping new employees to congratulating new orders. Some lunch times we even play brain teaser games together!”

She also highlights the role leadership plays in shaping that culture.
“Our Sales Director, Stephen Reynolds, brings out the best of us with his knowledge and support… and love of biscuits!”
Q: What’s it like working as part of the team at Rapid Energy?
“It’s fast-paced, challenging, fun, and rewarding.”
Q: Why would you recommend Rapid Energy as a great place to work?
Shanna’s journey highlights the long-term opportunities available at Rapid Energy.
“I came into Rapid Energy with a little bit of industry knowledge and experience, but in the almost two years I’ve been here, I’ve learnt so much more than just how to sell our services.”
“We have an incredible group of people across departments who support each other, work together, and have become good friends. We’re a friendly bunch with the skills and support to grow your future.”
Challenges, Skills & Problem-Solving
Q: What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Working in a business that supports customers through critical heating and cooling requirements means pressure can be high, especially during peak periods.
“The most challenging part for me is making sure we meet customer demand and expectations during peak times. The thought of letting a customer down when it’s freezing cold means I’ll use all means necessary to get what they need to them in time.”
Q: What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on at Rapid Energy so far?
One standout moment for Shanna was a major international project.
“It has to be the international sports event in Paris we supported in 2024. This was a new endeavour for us and required many levels of skills and service. It was challenging and certainly tested us, but we made it happen, which was a huge achievement for Rapid as a whole.”
She also points to the rapid growth of the FM team.
“Our FM team is a recent development and already we’ve secured a large framework agreement with a huge business within the FM sector – it’s a really exciting time for us as we build on our success.”
Q: What skills are most important for success in internal sales?
“For me, it’s being adaptable within a team. When it’s busy, you have to juggle multiple tasks, urgent enquiries, and customer requests. Being able to lean on a supportive team, or give your own support, is really important.”
