Carbon Credits

In today’s commercial and industrial sectors, sustainability is no longer a “nice to have”; it’s a business priority. But for many organisations that rely on temporary heating and cooling during shutdowns, emergencies, or peak demand, reducing emissions can feel challenging.

We believe operational continuity and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand. That’s why we offer carbon offsetting solutions alongside our temporary heating and cooling hire services, helping clients reduce the environmental impact of essential operations.

Why Carbon Offsetting Matters

Temporary boilers, chillers and heaters are often deployed in critical situations where downtime simply isn’t an option. Whether supporting a hospital during an HVAC failure or maintaining production in a manufacturing facility, these systems are essential.

However, like most energy-intensive equipment, they can produce unavoidable carbon emissions.

Carbon offsetting provides a way to compensate for those residual emissions while businesses continue progressing toward long-term net-zero goals.

How Carbon Credits Work

The process of carbon offsetting is designed to be transparent, measurable, and independently verified.

How Carbon Credits Work
1. Emissions Are Calculated

First, the emissions generated by the temporary heating or cooling equipment used on a project are measured and converted into tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (tCO₂e).

This creates a clear understanding of the environmental impact associated with the equipment deployment.

2. Reduction Comes First

At Rapid Energy, offsetting is not viewed as a replacement for reducing emissions.

Where possible, we prioritise:

  • Low-carbon equipment options
  • Improved operational practices
  • Cleaner fuel alternatives
  • Smarter equipment sizing and deployment

By reducing emissions at the source first, only unavoidable residual emissions remain to be offset.

3. Verified Carbon Credits Are Purchased

To compensate for unavoidable emissions, verified carbon credits are purchased.

Each carbon credit represents one tonne of CO₂e reduced or removed elsewhere through independently verified environmental projects such as:

  • Renewable energy developments
  • Reforestation initiatives
  • Ecological restoration projects
  • Clean water programmes
  • Sustainable infrastructure projects

Rapid Energy only works with independently verified carbon offset providers through Neutral Carbon Zone, using recognised certification standards including Gold Standard, Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), CDM, and CCBA.

4. Credits Are Retired

Once purchased, the credits are permanently retired within a recognised carbon registry.

This is important because it ensures the credits cannot be reused or claimed elsewhere, giving businesses full transparency and confidence in their sustainability reporting.

5. Documentation Supports ESG Reporting

Clients receive documentation confirming:

  • Emissions calculations
  • Offset volumes
  • Credit retirement evidence

This can support ESG reporting, sustainability targets, and wider carbon reduction commitments.

How We Support a Net Zero Future

At Rapid Energy, sustainability is built into the way we operate.

Alongside delivering reliable temporary heating and cooling solutions, we’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of our own operations through:

  • NCZ Gold Certified carbon neutral operations
  • A Net Zero 2050 commitment
  • Low-carbon equipment options across our hire fleet
  • Efficient equipment deployment and operational practices
  • Carbon offset fuel options

We understand that many businesses are working toward ambitious sustainability targets while still needing reliable temporary temperature control during emergencies, shutdowns, and peak demand periods.

Our approach helps clients maintain operational continuity while working with a supplier that takes environmental responsibility seriously.

The Benefits of Carbon Offsetting for Businesses

For many organisations, carbon offsetting offers both environmental and operational advantages.

  • Supports Sustainability Goals
Carbon credits help businesses demonstrate measurable action toward carbon reduction and ESG commitments.
  • Enhances ESG Reporting
Verified documentation supports environmental disclosures, tender requirements, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Demonstrates Environmental Responsibility
Clients, investors, and customers increasingly expect businesses to actively reduce environmental impact wherever possible.
  • Complements Existing Carbon Reduction Strategies
Offsetting works alongside initiatives such as energy efficiency upgrades, renewable technologies, and low-carbon equipment adoption.
