Now, we’re proud to bring that same level of commitment and excellence to sustainability. We’re proud to announce that Rapid Energy has officially achieved Gold Certification from Neutral Carbon Zone (NCZ), marking a significant step in our journey to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

What This Means

The certification follows a rigorous, independently verified analysis of our organisational and operational carbon footprint for the 2023-2024 reporting period. Conducted in line with ISO-14064 standards, the process covered all relevant greenhouse gas emissions across three different scopes, giving us a full view of our environmental impact.

This includes everything from company vehicle usage and electricity consumption to business travel, remote working, waste, and procurement practices.

A Clear Picture of Our Impact

Understanding our emissions at every level is the critical first step in meaningful climate action. Our verified 2023-2024 carbon footprint highlighted the core areas of our impact, including:

Scope 1 (Direct emissions): Company vehicles accounted for 13.7% of our total emissions.
Scope 2 (Indirect energy emissions): Electricity use contributed 0.4%.
Scope 3 (Other indirect emissions): The majority, 85.9%, came from sources such as:
- Purchased goods and services
- Business travel, commuting, and homeworking
- Downstream deliveries and site-related activities
- Waste and water usage

By capturing this level of detail, we now have a clear, data-backed foundation to drive targeted reductions year-on-year.

What We’ve Done So Far

Reaching Gold Certification means we didn’t just measure our impact, we started taking real steps to reduce it:

Transition to electric fleet vehicles, with ongoing assessments to move remaining vehicles to electric powered by renewable energy tariffs.
Encouraging sustainable transport through a new cycle-to-work scheme.
Implemented internal environmental policies, including LED lighting upgrades and enhanced waste management protocols.

We’ve also committed to offsetting 100% of our 2023-24 emissions through high-quality, internationally recognised offsets such as Gold Standard.

Looking Ahead

Achieving NCZ Gold Certification isn’t the end – it’s just the beginning.

Our long-term goal is to reduce our emissions by 90% by 2050, with annual reporting and reductions tracked along the way. As part of that commitment, we are:

Launching a full supply chain compliance programme to monitor and influence upstream emissions.
Reviewing and reducing energy and water consumption across all sites.
Continuing to implement the latest low-impact technologies in our heating and cooling systems to maximise efficiency on client sites.
Exploring a zero waste to landfill policy to further minimise our environmental impact.
