Victoria Hooper is a valued member of our engineering team. She joined just 5 months ago but already plays a key role in system testing, equipment preparation, and on-site installations. We interviewed Victoria to find out what sparked her original interest in engineering and what she enjoys about her role.
An Interview with Victoria
What inspired you to pursue a career in engineering?
“I grew up watching my dad in this industry and even went with him on some jobs, so I got to see it firsthand. As I got older, I originally went down a different career path but realised it wasn’t for me. When the opportunity arose to step into this role, I took it-and here we are!”
What does a typical day look like for you?
“It varies! In the depot, I’m testing boilers, organising fittings, and prepping equipment for jobs. On-site, it’s completely different- we’re landing boilers, connecting hoses, commissioning systems, and ensuring everything runs smoothly alongside the client.”
What’s the most exciting project you’ve worked on?
“One of the most interesting jobs was on a floating oil vessel (FPSO) in the Orkney Islands. We had to install one of our temporary boilers onboard and integrate it perfectly with their systems. Because this was such a big job, we got to live onboard for 4 days!”

What’s the most challenging project you’ve worked on?
“I’d say the same job! The logistics were a massive challenge, but we made it work through careful planning. We even got stuck in Aberdeen for a few days! But overall, it was an incredible experience.”
What do you love most about working at Rapid Energy?
“The best part has to be the variety of jobs I get to work on, especially as a junior engineer. I’ve had the chance to gain experience on some really exciting projects and I can’t wait to see what’s next!”
