Schools and Universities have a duty to provide education all year round. When a critical asset like a boiler fails, a solution must be found quickly to ensure that services can resume. Our client, a prestige boarding school in Kent, unfortunately experienced a catastrophic failure to their incumbent boilers. There was a 4 week delay on the required parts to be delivered, so a temporary boiler solution was required to supply LTHW into the primary heating circuit – which in turn would reinstate heat back into the pupils boarding block.
Following the initial call, Rapid Energy arranged an emergency site survey, so one of our consultants could attend the site to ascertain requirements and put forward a suitable temporary solution.
With the school’s reputation at stake, time was of the essence to reinstate heating services back into the required building.
With both existing boilers experiencing failures resulting in a complete outage. Our team were onsite within 2 hours of the initial call – reviewing the existing plant room which consisted of 2 no 150kW packaged boilers. Both boilers feed into a header which in turn supplied the heating system in the pupils boarding block.
Our solution was to supply 1 no 300kW oil fired packaged boiler and connect into the header supplying LTHW at 80 degrees.
Following the client’s instruction the same day, our equipment and engineers were deployed and our temporary boiler was landed onsite. Our engineers then connected a total of 80m of 2 inch temporary hose into the client’s existing header. We provided 2 x 25m single phase 16a leads which were connected into the commando sockets located in the plant room. This supplied and enabled the power for our BMS system and pump sets within the temporary boiler plant room. The fuel tank was then linked into the burners with fuel lines, and the engineers began the commissioning process.
Following commissioning, the team back at HQ confirmed temperature set points through the BMS and signed off the installation as complete.
With the school facing potential closure and subsequent financial loss, it was imperative we delivered a fast and efficient solution to our clients facility. This is another example of the Rapid Energy team working together to deliver operational excellence for our clients
