We received a call from a new client who required an air conditioning hire solution for their 9 story office block located in Central London. Due to various technical and operational issues, the incumbent chillers and AHU system had not been operational for some time. So a temporary AC solution was required to reduce internal temperatures within the building throughout the summer months.
Rapid Energy recommended a site visit to determine the best cooling solution for the client, so a survey was subsequently booked in.
On the survey it was quickly ascertained that due to the site’s location restrictions an external chiller/AHU hire system would not be suitable. An alternative solution consisting of local air conditioning units and evaporative coolers were therefore recommended. Each individual room on each floor was surveyed, with room measurements taken to allow for heat loss calculations to be made to ensure the right equipment was specified. Flexibility and scalability is a huge benefit of rental air conditioning units.
Office needs can vary throughout the year, depending on factors such as the number of employees, seasonal temperature changes, or office relocations. Renting air conditioning units locally provides flexibility to adjust the cooling capacity based on the site’s specific requirements. In this instance we offered the client flexibility to trial the solution for some rooms on one floor, to ensure they were happy with the results prior to instructing across multiple floors for the building in its entirety.
The trial solution worked by reducing internal temperatures and providing much needed cooling for the staff which then gave the client confidence to scale up the number of units rented, ensuring optimal comfort and energy efficiency for the whole building.
The customer was delighted with the temporary installation and entered into a 3 month minimum agreement to continue hiring across the whole site.
