Located within Manchester’s renowned Oxford Road innovation district, Citylabs 4.0 is a cutting-edge office and laboratory development dedicated to health innovation and precision medicine. As part of this £42 million project designed to achieve net-zero carbon in shared spaces, a reliable temporary heating solution was essential during construction.
The goal was to provide efficient underfloor heating for critical areas, including the ground floor, reception and WC facilities. To meet these precise heating requirements, the project team required Temporary Electric Boilers, ensuring a seamless and energy-efficient solution.
The project faced additional challenges related to power distribution, as the building had various power connections and capacities. Fortunately, our mobile electric boiler is compatible with a wide range of power outputs, from 3kW to 36kW. To accommodate the project’s power requirements, we provided both single-phase and three-phase power leads and adapters (16A and 32A), ensuring seamless integration with the available power sources.
For a seamless temporary heating solution, the following equipment was hired for a duration of three weeks:
A skilled engineer from Rapid Energy led the commissioning and installation of the mobile electric boilers. While the power supply was established upon arrival, the enabling works were not yet complete. Demonstrating both expertise and adaptability, our engineer meticulously prepared the setup, making it straightforward for the customer to finalise the connections.
The following day, the customer completed the enabling works with remote support. Via a video conference call, our engineer guided the customer step by step, ensuring the connections were made correctly and the system was fully operational. This seamless collaboration highlighted the efficiency and simplicity of our mobile electric boiler setup, perfectly suited for enabling the underfloor heating within this building.
