When the incumbent boilers at a Swimming Centre in Wales failed unexpectedly, the building was left with only a low-output CHP unit providing heat. This urgent situation required immediate attention, subsequently a call from the local council was received by a member of the Rapid Energy team, early on a Tuesday afternoon. A rapid response and effective packaged boiler hire solution was essential to restoring heat to the facility.
Upon receiving the call, we promptly attended the site the very same day to conduct a comprehensive survey of the existing heating system and to determine the best solution. Understanding the urgency, our team acted swiftly to assess the requirements and prepare for a quick installation, communicating with the client throughout the entire process.
To meet the heating demands of the Swimming Centre we provided the following equipment:
Additional equipment included: 20 meters of 15mm plastic fill hose and security measures such as 5 x Heras fence panels with 1 pedestrian gate.
The main challenge involved the connection of our heating solution to the existing system located on the first floor, 6 meters off the ground. To facilitate this, the building owner created a high-level opening, allowing for the seamless passage of LPHW flow and return hoses along the exterior.
The opening was completed by Wednesday, and our team wasted no time in installing and commissioning the equipment by Thursday. This rapid installation ensured minimal downtime, effectively enabling the swimming centre to resume operations without significant disruption.
Given the absence of 3-phase power on-site necessary for a single 600kW boiler package, we overcame this issue by supplying two x 300kW packaged boilers, both capable of operating on single-phase power. This strategic decision not only met the heating requirements but also optimised energy efficiency and reliability.
