Schools, Colleges and Universities have a duty to provide education all year round. When a critical asset like the boiler fails, a solution must be found quickly to ensure that heating and hot water services can resume. Our client, an education trust in Nottingham, unfortunately experienced a failure to their existing flue system. With an 8 week delay on the delivery to the parts to fix, a temporary boiler solution was required to reinstate heating and hot water back into the building.
1 x 250kW Packaged Heat Exchanger
1 x Three Phase | 32a Commando | 5 Pin Red | 25m Lead
6 x 3″ Camlock 16 Bar Rated Hose | 10m Length |
3 x 2” FDA Approved Hot Water Hose | 10m
1 x Bunded Fuel Tank 3000l
With the university’s reputation at stake, time was of the essence to reinstate the services back into the required building. Following the initial call on Friday evening, one of Rapid Energy’s team were onsite reviewing the existing plant room 8AM Monday morning. The plant room consisted of 2 no 200KW boilers along with 2 storage Calorifiers.
Unfortunately, there were no connection points on the Hot Water Service (HWS) circuit to connect too and the power on site was limited with only 1 domestic 13amp socket available. With this in mind our enabling team carried out the works on the HWS circuit to provide temporary connection points along with our electrician who installed a 415v 32amp commando socket inside the plant room so our temporary boiler could be powered.
Our solution was to supply 1 no 600kW oil fired packaged boiler with 250KW HWS heat exchanger where we connected to the main header to reinstate the heating and our heat exchanger was connected to the secondary circuit providing instantaneous domestic hot water.
Following the client’s instruction to proceed our engineering team were deployed and the enabling works and 600KW boiler installation was carried out the same day.
Our BMS system was installed on this high profile site so we could monitor flow and return temperatures along with fuel usage throughout the hire period. Following commissioning the team back at HQ confirmed temperature set points through the BMS and signed off the installation as complete.
Stephen Reynolds, Sales Director at Rapid Energy comments:
“With the education trust facing potential closure it was essential we delivered a fast and efficient solution to our clients facility. This is a great example of the Rapid Energy team going above and beyond to get a temporary solution operational with the restrictions in place”
Stephen Reynolds and his team were able to meet our requirements at short notice by providing a temporary package boiler with full installation and ongoing support including fuel management. They reacted to the demands that were made of them professionally, courteously and swiftly. I would confidently use them again in the future for their quality of product and service. Thanks Guys!
