We’re passionate about temperature control hire solutions, but we’re equally as committed to investing in people. That’s why we were delighted to welcome Ruby, a Year 10 student from Gospel Oak Secondary School, to join us for a three-day work experience placement.
At just 15 years old, Ruby stepped into our fast-paced commercial environment with curiosity, energy, and a genuine eagerness to learn. She quickly found herself immersed in a wide range of tasks that gave her valuable exposure to the inner workings of a real business, from sales to logistics, customer service, and operational support.
Ruby’s Work Experience Overview
Ruby’s experience was carefully structured to help her gain practical skills and a clear sense of how a professional workplace operates. Over the course of her time with us, she:
- Assisted with customer enquiries and learned how to respond professionally and effectively.
- Gained insight into the sales process, including how to follow up on inbound enquiries and generate quotes.
- Helped process orders and raised purchase orders for transport, contributing to real-time operations.
- Conducted a stock take of our portable air conditioning units.
- Created a prospect list for our external sales team, learning how to identify and organise sales opportunities.
- Prepared a spreadsheet of potential customers for one of our Business Development Managers.
- Supported internal staff by helping them connect with customers via LinkedIn.
- Learned how to confidently navigate our online workspaces and manage shared documentation.

Why This Matters
Offering work experience placements like this is part of our broader commitment to professional development – not just for our team, but for the next generation of talent entering the workforce. We believe that real-world experiences are critical for helping young people build confidence, explore career options, and understand the expectations of the working world.
As Ruby shared:
“I really enjoyed my time at Rapid Energy. I was nervous on my first day, but everyone was very welcoming, which put me at ease. It was great to get a feel for what it’s like to work in an office environment where everyone is very busy dealing with customers all the time.”
Building Skills and Confidence
By involving Ruby in our day-to-day operations, we gave her the opportunity to develop practical, transferable skills, from communication and teamwork to time management and digital literacy. She also gained firsthand insight into the critical role we play in keeping businesses running during planned shutdowns, HVAC failures, or peak periods of demand.
This experience is just one example of how we support people at all stages of their careers. Whether it’s our engineers on the ground, our sales team at the front line, or the students just beginning their journey, we believe in helping individuals grow with confidence and purpose.
We’re proud of the work Ruby did during her time with us, and we hope it’s the beginning of a bright and successful future for her.
